Early Entrance to Kindergarten

Early Entrance to Kindergarten – School Year 2014-2015

Per Illinois School Board of Education regulations, to be eligible to enter kindergarten children must be five years of age by September 1st. The law also provides for early entrance into kindergarten based on an assessment of a child’s readiness to attend school. Our standards for early entrance are very high to ensure that students are not frustrated by their advanced grade placement now and throughout their education. In addition to exceptional academic skills, we will also consider social-emotional-interpersonal skills, stamina, physical development, cognitive, language processing, and visual-motor integration.

Applications for early entrance to kindergarten for the following school year will be accepted from February 1 through May 17. Families must be residents of East Moline School District 37 to initiate the early entrance to Kindergarten process or be able to show that they will be residents when school starts in the Fall.   Examples to verify future residence might be a rental agreement or home purchase agreement. Parent/Guardians who wish to apply for early entrance must complete the Application for Early Entrance - Kindergarten. Attached below is link to to download the form or call 309-792-2887 Ext 6 to obtain one from the Administration Center. The completed form should be submitted to the Administration Center at 3555 19th Street, East Moline, IL 61244, to the attention of the Associate Superintendent. At that time, Parents/Guardians should call the Administration Center (309-792-2887 Ext 6 ) to schedule the Kindergarten Early Entrance Assessment, which will be administered by a School Psychologist in June. The cost of testing for early entrance into Kindergarten is $150. The fee can be reduced upon appeal and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
