East Moline District 37 is pleased to provide the 2016 “Summer Success” summer school program for students in grades kindergarten - 8. The purpose of the summer school program is to provide extended school year remediation for students who have not met district criteria for promotion. The goal is to keep students from falling further behind in their grade placement. The summer school will focus on improving basic literacy skills and mathematics.
On August 17th, 2015, the Transportation Staff and Project Now Head Start participated in an exciting, fun-filled training day of training. We set up an obstacle course in our parking lot that consisted of five different courses of training. The courses included pre-trip, mirror training, road skills, bus evacuations, and wheelchair tie-downs.
Helping all students learn at high levels is at the heart of what we do in East Moline School District. This is the basis for our Mission Statement and Strategic Priorities. In the last newsletter, we shared the work teachers are doing to monitor for student learning. This quarter, we’d like to highlight yet another way we are working to meet the needs of all students: the instructional practice of collaborative teaching, also known as Co-Teaching.
East Moline School District #37 is proud to announce it has entered into a partnership with the Quad City Health Initiative and the Rock Island County Regional Office of Education aimed at improving our School Wellness Program. Research has shown that healthy students not only do better academically but have improved self-esteem and self-confidence. These are all goals that our EMSD #37 School Board and its leadership value greatly.
