Plans and Goals for Ms. Lawwill's Class

To improve: reading level, comprehension, ability to find information

We plan to: read a variety of materials including fiction, nonfiction, and poetry

Reading Goal: To be reading and comprehending at or above level M by the end of the school year.

Writing

To improve: mechanics, spelling, sentence structure, topic focus, grammar, editing

We plan to: write narrative, persuasive, expository, and descriptive essays

Writing Goal: To compose well-organized and coherent writing for specific purposes.

Math

To improve: number sense, fact memorization, basic geometry, story problem   solving

We plan to: Use drill and practice, as well as, problem solving strategies

Math Goal: To memorize basic facts and to score at least 80% on tests.

Science

To improve knowledge about: plants, animals, weather, states of matter

We plan to: Read, observe, and experiment

science goal:  To use proper procedures when experimenting and to score at least 80% on tests.

social studies

To improve knowledge about: families, communities, rules/laws, government, map skills

We plan to: read and engage in creative activities

social studies goal: To participate in all activities and score at least 80% on tests
