Ridgewood Elementary

Ridgewood Elementary is a community school of about 400 students. The focus at Ridgewood is on Quality and Caring - a quality educational experience provided by a caring staff.  Principal Sheri Coder leads a staff of 45 including a high percentage of new teachers. Because of the combination of quality veterans and new teachers, Ridgewood is a showcase of innovative instructional strategies featuring classroom configurations such as looping or multi-age to meet the needs of all students and multiple opportunities for success through District and volunteer tutoring programs.

Ridgewood is proud of its academic achievement, diverse population and tradition of strong parent support. But, they aren’t resting on their laurels! In 2006, Ridgewood received the Spotlight Schools awards honor high poverty, high performing schools where at least 50% of students are classified as low-income and at least 60% passed (met or exceeded standards) the state reading and mathematics tests. Ridgewood students blew this benchmark out of the water! In fact, an impressive 80.3% of Ridgewood students met or exceeded standards in 2006. All Spotlight Schools made annual yearly progress and sustained their performance over the past three years. Certainly, Ridgewood Elementary staff and parents are dedicated to continuous improvement for the benefit of children!
