Mrs. Newton (Certified Librarian, MSLIS): I have worked as a librarian since 1992, and have worked in the district since 1994; beginning my career in East Moline as the first certified librarian at Wells and Ridgewood. In 1998, I chose to transfer to Glenview Middle School upon the retirement of the previous librarian.

Prior to working in East Moline, I worked as an elementary teacher in Alief Independent School District in Houston, Texas, and then as a Pre-K through 8th grade librarian in Winnebago, Illinois.

I have a BS in Elementary Education from Western Illinois University (1990), and a Masters in Library Science from Clarion (PA) University (2006). I also have 30 graduate hours towards a degree in Instructional Technology and Telecommunications.

Mrs. Brus (Library Assistant): "Librarians are tour guides for all of knowledge." This quote by Patrick Ness exemplifies the nature of my position at Glenview. After teaching at Hillcrest Elementary for eight years, I transferred to the library her at Glenview. Daily, I am able to interact with students in a positive learning environment. The library is an integral part of our school, and it draws students in constantly. As a "tour guide", I am able to share my enthusiasm and provide students with strategies to locate sources that fuel their imagination or provide relevant information for an assigned project. When a student learns to use a library, the doors to learning never close.
