It is with great pride that I welcome students, parents, and staff to the 2018-2019 school year. It is truly an honor and privilege to serve as the East Moline School District Superintendent of Schools. I’m looking forward to continuing to partner with our stakeholders in providing student-centered learning experiences for every child in District 37. The impetus for this important work centers on the development of life-long learners equipped to navigate the challenges of a fast-changing global economy.
District 37 continues to move in exciting new directions with innovative learning, rigorous curriculum and instructional practices, and building collective efficacy among our students and employees. We strive to innovate in East Moline. Currently, a district-wide committee of stakeholders is researching 1:1 learning environments for our schools. We believe the future of education is centered upon empowering our students and teachers by providing equitable opportunities utilizing technology to create pathways to navigate tomorrow's world. We recently updated our language arts, reading and math curricula to ensure our students have robust materials to match the rigorous instruction our teachers provide. We strive to find new ways of lifting up the voices of our students, families and staff because we believe that knowledge makes us stronger. By improving the collective efficacy throughout District 37, we know that we can empower our stakeholders to accomplish great things for and with our students.
Our East Moline School District community is called upon to create academic and social-emotional experiences designed to prepare each child for the 21st century. The school and parent partnership plays a vital role in this preparation. Your encouragement and support of your child’s educational journey is paramount to achieving student success. Our district has a solid foundation and will continue on a path to ever-increasing educational excellence. I am confident that with responsive and progressive leadership from all District 37 stakeholders, we will inspire each other, build support, and continue to cultivate positive student learning experiences.
I would like to welcome students, staff and our families back to school and best wishes for a successful year ahead.
Dr. Kristin Humphries, Superintendent
