EMSD Forward Redistricting Plan graphic

As part of our strategic plan, the East Moline School District is undertaking a redistricting plan for the 2026-2027 school year. This shift is driven by our commitment to long-term financial stability and providing an even stronger educational experience for our elementary students.

What is redistricting?
Redistricting is the process of redrawing the boundaries within the school district. These boundaries determine which areas are served by which schools.

Why is redistricting necessary?
Redistricting is a process that should be considered regularly due to changes in population and residential developments. EMSD has not had a change in boundaries since 1988. Redistricting ensures that school districts maintain equitable allocation of resources and educational opportunities across the district. It can also address shifts in demographics, financial efficiency, and resource allocation.
