Parent Traffic & Safety Guide: Drop-Off & Pick-Up Procedures
Keeping our students, families, and staff safe is our top priority. We are updating our student drop-off and pick-up procedures to make school arrival and dismissal safer and faster for your family. We recently worked with engineering specialists to study our school procedures. In partnership with them, we are creating a new traffic plan for our school. This new plan will help:
Keep students safe during busy school hours
Speed up traffic so you spend less time waiting in line
Reduce traffic congestion in our surrounding neighborhoods
To keep our students safe and speed up traffic flow, all parent car drop-offs and pick-ups are moving to the east side of the building.
Arrival & Dismissal Timelines
Drop-off Begins: 8:00 am
Dismissal Time: 3:00 pm
Designated Rear Loading Zone: 5th Street Loading Zone
Traffic Guidelines
1. SINGLE DIRECTION OF FLOW:
To keep everyone safe, all cars must adhere to the single entry and exit points outlined below.
One-Way Traffic Route:
ENTER: Drive SOUTH on 5th Street (enter from 19th or 20th Avenue).
LOADING ZONE: Pull completely forward along 5th Street by the lower playground.
EXIT: Turn onto 22nd Avenue (loop north or head south on 4th Street A).
4th Street A - One way only. The 2200 block of 4th Street A is a one-way only (Southbound) from 7:30–9:00 AM and dismissal (2:00–3:30 PM).
No Entry to Kennedy Drive: 22nd Avenue at Kennedy Drive is closed to car traffic during arrival (7:30–9:00 AM) and dismissal (2:00–3:30 PM).
2. LOADING ZONE SAFETY:
All drivers must stay inside their vehicles while in the drop-off lane.
Road signs and school staff will be stationed on 5th Street to guide you safely.
Pull completely forward into the Loading Zone and look for signage before letting students exit via the passenger-side doors.
Multiple cars can unload students while in the loading zone.
After unloading students, please pull into the left-hand lane and exit on 4th St.A or loop north or back to 5th St.
3. DESIGNATED PARKING COMPLIANCE:
If you need to leave your vehicle, park in the front office lot—NOT IN THE DROP-OFF LANE.
Late Arrivals: You must park in the front lot across from the main entrance and walk your child into the main office to sign them in if you arrive after the listed times below:
Rear Doors Lock: 8:20 AM
Late Pick-Up: After 3:15 PM, remaining Hillcrest students will be escorted to the main office. Park in the front lot to pick them up.
Visitors / Parking: If you need to come inside the building, do not stop in the drop-off line. Please park in the designated areas across the street from the main office parking lot.
