We look forward to meeting our incoming 5th graders and families tomorrow, May 15th!

EMSD's last day of school is Wednesday, May 28th.

Our Top 5 ST Math finishers got to go on a special field trip with their teachers to John Deere Harvester Works. John Deere treated these individuals with a special video, lunch, and gifts. Thank you to John Deere for investing in our Hornets. You are making a difference!

Dear Families,
This year in order to update and refresh student devices, we will be collecting Chromebooks from all students currently enrolled in Kindergarten through 4th grade.
We will begin collection on Monday, May 12th and will be collecting the device, charger and stylus. Beginning on May 12th, to help with the collection, students will no longer be able to take the devices home. During the summer, the devices will be cleaned, refreshed, repaired as needed and updated. Please be sure to send the device itself and any accessories (charger, stylus) to school on May 12th.
If your child is attending any of the programming hosted by EMSD over the summer, each program will have a set of devices that students will use during that program. If your student will not be in the district next year, please give this information to the teacher.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation. If you have any questions, please contact us at 309-865-6946.
Sincerely,
EMSD Department of Technology Services

impact (definition): have a strong effect on someone or something
This describes the staff at Hillcrest Elementary School. They have made a positive, life-long impact on our Hornets at Hillcrest. They deserve to be celebrated this week, and truly, every day. Our staff show up daily to impact our students and because of their work, our world is a better place. If you know a teacher (not just the ones at Hillcrest) give them a great big thank you! We appreciate our staff at Hillcrest.

Our 3rd and 4th graders got to plant basil this week. This was made possible by our partnership with John Deere. Our students got to learn from the John Deere employee who takes care of the atrium at headquarters. Our students asked amazing questions. Thank you, John Deere, for helping us create another moment for kids.

Reading recess was enjoyed by many again, this time much warmer! We loved the sunshine today!!! ☀️ 📚

Save the date!

REMINDER-
Tomorrow, Wednesday, May 7th is an early dismissal Day. Glenview will dismiss at 10:55 am, elementary schools will dismiss at 11:30 am.

Attention incoming 5th-grade families!

They arrive early, work hard, and serve with heart. From brightening mornings to preparing every meal with love and care, our food service team makes a difference every single day. We see you, we appreciate you, and we thank you. Happy School Lunch Hero Day!

Happy May Day from a few of Ms. Skiles 1st graders! 🌺

Coming up with words to describe our pride in Mrs. Torres is a hard task because I am not sure there are words to adequately describe how we feel! There are words to describe her perseverance, her growth mindset, her connection with kids (and their families!), her willingness to think outside the box, the way she implements researched based practices, etc. Litzy is rocking it in all areas of the job. Mrs. Torres' puts her kids first in everything she does and because of this, her students are soaring! The students that are in the care of Mrs. Torres are going to be lifelong learners and successful members of society. We are proud of you, Litzy! Keep up the good work and always, always do what is best for kids!
