The Conscious Discipline Parent Night scheduled for tomorrow, September 16th, has been postponed.

It was a GOOD day in 4th Grade!
The students worked together to create posters using sources they’ve studied while learning about the three Branches of Government. 🏛️💡
It was so satisfying to hear the students using vocabulary that was once tough to understand—but they GOT it. 🙌 They collaborated, created, and even presented their work proudly.
To top it off, the classroom was transformed into the 3 branches!
Be a parent mentor by volunteering in classrooms for 2 hours a day, supporting students at least 100 hours per semester. The Parent Mentors also receive weekly training, both virtually and in-person. Along with these trainings, Parent Mentors receive the benefits of leadership training and community engagement. After completing 100 hours, you may receive a $$Stipend$$.

Join us for a parent night at Hillcrest on September 16th from 5-7pm to learn about Conscious Discipline, the behavior initiative that we use while your child is at school.
In a world where it's easy to say, "look what you made me do," the Power of Perception reminds us that we are in charge of ourselves. By practicing composure, we can model the behaviors we want children to learn, becoming the person we want them to become. Similarly, the Power of Attention teaches us that "what you focus on you get more of." When we use assertiveness to communicate clearly and focus our attention on the behaviors we want to see, children are more likely to comply and we get more positive outcomes. Both of these tools help us to become the respectful and effective leaders that children need us to be.
Our kindergarten students are stretching their brain learning their numbers 0-5! 🐝 🐝 🐝 🐝 🐝

Mum Sale!
Thank you for the Quad City River Bandits for supporting our staff tonight. The organization donated 100 tickets for our staff and their families to come and enjoy. This year our Hornets are going to “Hit this Year Out of the Park!”
Hillcrest Families -- We will be keeping an eye on the heat index tomorrow and Tuesday. We will go by the "feels like" temperature. We will be giving students lots of cold water breaks. Please keep this graphic for future weather situations. Is anyone else ready for fall?!

What an amazing first three days of school! Our classrooms have been working hard on creating their commitments for the year and building their classroom families. Ms. Vickers class made bracelets to represent this work.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, August 13th, is our first day of school. There will be a one-hour early dismissal time. Glenview will dismiss at 1:25 pm, elementary schools will dismiss at 2:00 pm.
