A reminder to our families that tomorrow (Tuesday) is our annual Field Day at Hillcrest Elementary School. It is going to be chillier than normal (66 degrees). Our students will be outside for the majority of the day so please dress accordingly.
Our tradition of the fire truck spraying our students at the end of the day WILL be taking place. Please send a towel with your child if you would like. If you DO NOT want your child to participate, send a message to your child's teacher in Rooms.
Finally, if you are volunteering all day, you will have a 30 minute lunch break. Please bring your lunch. Water will be provided.

Wondering more about the EMSD Forward Redistricting Plan for 2026-2027? We’ve updated our FAQ with answers to some of the most common questions we’ve received from staff and families.
One question we've heard often: How will we make space for 5th grade and more students at Ridgewood?
The Ridgewood campus will expand into part of the current Glenview building. Smaller elementary schools like Wells, Bowlesburg, and Hillcrest are projected to have around 250 students each, including 5th grade, with approximately two sections per grade.
Another key question: How will traffic be managed with more students at Glenview and Ridgewood?
Student safety is our top priority. Currently, we have approximately 1,500 students attending school at the Ridgewood and Glenview campuses. With our current projections for 26-27, we will increase to approximately 1,700 students between Ridgewood and Glenview. We are working with city officials, law enforcement, and school staff to assess traffic flow and prepare for an increase of about 200 students. Plans may include traffic pattern adjustments, additional staff supervision, more entry points, and added crossing guard support.

There was an error in the district newsletter that went out yesterday. Please note that the last day of school is a full day of student attendance, not a half day.
We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

Congrats and a big THANK YOU to our 2025 EMSD Retirees!

Lunch on the Lawn was successful today. We are thankful for the gorgeous weather. Thank you to all our families that came to eat with our students today.

It was a busy day at Hillcrest. We finished our week with an ice cream social. Thank you to our KKids, Glenview Builders Club, and our Parent Mentors for hosting a fun event for our families.

Our custodian, Mr. Rogers, is a WWII expert. He brought in a collection of archives from this time in our history. Our fourth grade students got to listen to him speak today. Thank you, Mr. Rogers, for creating another moment for our kids today!

Hope to see you tomorrow!!

Our second grade students are learning about erosion. Mrs. Shemek created a FUN hands-on learning experiment where our students got to test what natural happenings impact erosion. Students got to test wind, an earthquake, and water against erosion.

We look forward to meeting our incoming 5th graders and families tomorrow, May 15th!
