All after school activities at Glenview are cancelled today (12-1-25) due to the weather. This includes the Lights ON Scholar Academy and all Lights ON enrichment clubs, and sports.

This year's DC trip is Friday June 5th through Monday June 8th. The total cost $2106 and another $250 dollars for the trip insurance if you choose to take it. We look forward to the 2nd half of the season after Thanksgiving break. -The 7th grade boys played their best game of the season, last night, in Geneseo. Although we didn't come away with the Win, we are proud of their commitment to improving their skills. -Make sure to come watch both teams when games resume in December! Go Gators!

As we complete a week celebrating Veterans in our community, state, and nation, it's important to remember the real reason for Veterans Day and its history.

You might ask: What is Veterans Day?
Veterans Day is a special national holiday that is celebrated every year on November 11th. It is a day to honor and thank all the brave men and women—known as Veterans—who have served in the United States Armed Forces (the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, US Space Force ) during times of war and peace.

A Look Back: From Armistice Day to Veterans Day
The holiday has a rich history that dates back to the end of World War I—the "Great War."
-November 11, 1918: At the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, an armistice (a temporary stop to the fighting, or truce) was signed between the Allied nations and Germany, officially ending the war.
-Armistice Day: In 1919, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed November 11th as the first "Armistice Day" to commemorate the peace and honor those who served in World War I. Congress later made it an official federal holiday in 1938.
-A New Name for All Heroes: After World War II and the Korean War, which involved millions of American soldiers, the U.S. realized the holiday needed to honor all who had served the country in all wars. In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower officially signed legislation that changed the name from "Armistice Day" to Veterans Day.
