Wondering more about the EMSD Forward Redistricting Plan for 2026-2027? We’ve updated our FAQ with answers to some of the most common questions we’ve received from staff and families.
One question we've heard often: How will we make space for 5th grade and more students at Ridgewood?
The Ridgewood campus will expand into part of the current Glenview building. Smaller elementary schools like Wells, Bowlesburg, and Hillcrest are projected to have around 250 students each, including 5th grade, with approximately two sections per grade.
Another key question: How will traffic be managed with more students at Glenview and Ridgewood?
Student safety is our top priority. Currently, we have approximately 1,500 students attending school at the Ridgewood and Glenview campuses. With our current projections for 26-27, we will increase to approximately 1,700 students between Ridgewood and Glenview. We are working with city officials, law enforcement, and school staff to assess traffic flow and prepare for an increase of about 200 students. Plans may include traffic pattern adjustments, additional staff supervision, more entry points, and added crossing guard support.

There was an error in the district newsletter that went out yesterday. Please note that the last day of school is a full day of student attendance, not a half day.
We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

Ms. Owen was recognized by the Rock Island Regional Office of Education (RIROE) for the April Employee of the Month Award at the East Moline Early Learning Center. Ms. Owen is in her second year of her role as an Early Childhood Instructional Specialist with the East Moline School District. Prior to that, she served as our Family Educator at the Early Learning Center. Earlier in her career path, she worked for many years with one of our most trusted community partners, and has a wealth of experience in early learning, teaching, and working with families. She has brought enthusiasm, passion, curiosity, and a strong focus on developmentally-appropriate practices to our early learning continuum, not only at a building level, but from a state and district perspective as well. She has advocated for more PLAY and outdoor experiences infused in all the learning that we do at the Early Learning Center, and has been instrumental in our recent expansion to include a full-day option of early childhood. Ms. Anna also supports the curriculum alignment to elementary programming by collaborating and coaching in kindergarten classrooms across the district. She is warm, welcoming, calm, insightful, and has a love for inclusion and wonder in the early education years. We value you and your emphasis of joyful learning, Ms. Anna! #EMSD37Pride #growingthroughPLAY
