Spirit Week starts next Monday!!

We have not one, but TWO employees to honor for the month of September! Our wonderful custodians, Frances Cantu and Guillermo "Memo" Raya were both recognized by the Rock Island Regional Office of Education for their outstanding work in our district. Particularly during the summer months, our custodial staff work tirelessly to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and upkeep in our newest East Moline school building. Want to know more about Fran and Memo's awesomeness?! See below 👇 #EMSD37Pride #growingthroughplay
Ms. Cantu has been a custodian in the East Moline School District for the past 26 years. She has spent the majority of her time at Glenview Middle School, but most recently became the first shift custodian at the East Moline Early Learning Center in 2022. Everyone knows Fran’s laugh….she brings laughter and joy to our school each day. She is caring, thoughtful and kind, not only to her colleagues, but to our youngest learners as well. She keeps our building clean and safe, as well as being timely in her response to various matters throughout a preschool day (imagine three, four and five year olds and bodily functions!). Fran has a great working relationship with the second shift custodian, who operate in unison based on mutual respect. Particularly over the summer, our two custodians were diligent about deep cleaning, painting, and routine building repairs that keep our school looking its best. Fran, we appreciate you and love that you are part of our School Family!
Guillermo “Memo” is our second shift custodian at the East Moline Early Learning Center. He has worked for the East Moline School District for nearly 16 years, spending his previous years at Bowlesburg Elementary School. Memo is bilingual, and has developed positive relationships with our staff, students and families. He has a calm, friendly demeanor that makes him an integral part of our School Family. This past summer, he worked collaboratively with our first shift custodian to keep our building clean, safe, and beautiful. His attention to detail, care, and willingness to do whatever it takes is admirable. He is also known as the person that can fix anything, and has an unparalleled “green thumb,” earning him the title of “Plant Whisperer.” Memo, we appreciate you and love that you are part of our School Family!
Seems like an appropriate time to also show our appreciation for Memo and Fran on National Custodian Day on October 2nd, 2024. Thank you for all you do!

Mexican Independence Day Parade Fiesta

As you know, our three big expectations at East Moline Early Learning Center are "Be Kind, Be Safe, and Be Helpful." Last week, our Early Learning Center Little Panthers had the opportunity to be helpful and show kindness to some of our Safekeepers--adults that keep them safe at school. Our bus drivers and monitors for early childhood are an integral part of our school day, as they are the first faces and voices representing our programming. We appreciate them immensely!! #EMSD37Pride. #growingthroughplay #kindnessmatters
