Mrs. Wynes’ class at Bowlesburg Elementary took inspiration from Peter H. Reynolds’ The Dot and Vashti’s story for International Dot Day!
After discovering how a single dot can unleash a world of imagination and confidence, students created their own unique dot artwork. To spread the inspiration even further, Mrs. Wynes’ class offered dot art materials and activities to other classrooms throughout Bowlesburg Elementary, encouraging every student to leave their mark and see where their creativity takes them.
What started as a simple dot turned into a school-wide celebration of courage, creativity, and community!

On Patriot’s Day, some of our 2nd graders took time to reflect on why we remember this important day—honoring the bravery, sacrifice, and unity of those who serve others.
To turn that gratitude into action, our students crafted handmade thank-you cards for our local firefighters, police officers, and healthcare workers who keep our community safe every day! 🎨✉️

Mrs. Schoeve's first graders are hitting the ground running with our writing curriculum! We are on day 4 and Alpert is teaching us how to draw clothing with our illustrations! 🖍️

Hello EMSD Families!
All EMSD bus routes have finished transporting our students, and we are safely having a great first day of school. Thank you again to everyone for the flexibility and understanding as we had to make last-minute changes this morning.
Schools will dismiss with our planned one-hour early dismissal. Glenview will dismiss at 1:30 p.m., and elementary schools at 2:00 p.m.
A quick explanation of our decision-making: EMSD buses began their routes as early as 6:15 a.m. to transport students. As severe weather conditions developed, several buses traveling through the hardest-hit areas had to pause their routes for safety reasons. This pause created delays on subsequent bus routes. Additionally, we wanted to ensure no family felt pressured to compromise on safety to get their child to school on time.
We understand these disruptions caused inconvenience for many families today. While safety will always be our top priority, we remain committed to minimizing disruptions whenever possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding today, and we look forward to a successful school year ahead in EMSD!
