Educator Licensure and the Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS)

The Illinois State Board of Education uses the  Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS).

The attachments below will provide guidance on how to manage your account in ELIS, renew and register your Illinois license, and enter professional development credits.

Additional support can be obtained through the Illinois State Board of Education - www.isbe.net or from our local Regional Office of Education.

Licensure information can change rapidly. Although we make a diligent effort to keep our website updated, it is advisable to check the ISBE website regularly.

Are you a current educator who is ready to renew or register your license? Access your personal ELIS account here.

Are you looking for information on how to become a guest (substitute) teacher, or a paraprofessional? Access a listing of required qualifications here
